The Extraordinary Game™

The Pyramid Resource Group

The Extraordinary Game™ is our proprietary program for coaching corporate teams. It has been proven effective in producing truly extraordinary, measurable results for many businesses, both large and small. It is a productivity program, a team-building program, a communication-skills program, and a conflict-resolution program rolled into one.

There are four keys to the success of the Game:
  1. The team must be coachable and willing to give total effort in playing the Game. If the team is not willing to play, chances for success are slim.
  2. There must be strong commitment from a “partner” who will maintain the momentum of the program internally.
  3. Facilitation by an experienced and skilled corporate Coach.
  4. The existence of a “payoff” that will motivate the team to play hard.

In the Extraordinary Game™, corporate teams establish a goal (or goals) to achieve during a specified time frame. While the goal is an outcome the team is seeking, the Coach keeps the team focused on the process needed to reach the goal.

It is during the goal-achievement process that the team:
  • Develops extraordinary communication skills,
  • Uncovers blocks to productivity,
  • Identifies areas for improvement,
  • Learns to function as a cohesive unit, and
  • Learns to be self-sustaining.

Just about any corporate team can benefit from an Extraordinary Game™. Examples include:
  • Sales teams who want to increase revenue (the easiest game to measure)
  • Companies going through reorganizations, mergers, takeovers, and leadership changes (a great way to get everyone on the same page as they move forward)
  • Corporate teams who want to improve working relationships
  • Marketing groups who want new ideas and initiatives
  • Manufacturing firms that want to initiate new standard operating procedures, roll out new process lines, improve safety performance, or minimize product loss
  • Financial departments initiating new reporting and tracking systems
  • Any project team focused on a specific measurable outcome
  • Leadership teams searching for a new vision or organizational structure

There are many applications for the Game in corporations. However, the BEST applications are when a group has a single, tangible, measurable goal to achieve over the period the Game is played.
